QUEENS STUNG BY THISTLE

Well this was a game that Queens could have and should have won,but as is somewhat customary these days after being ahead twice they could not hang on to the win.
After going ahead to a really well made, and well taken Stephen Dobbie(hurray Dobbs has scored again- at last!!) goal inside 10 minutes Queens kind of lost their way for a while and allowed Thistle back into the game- Harkins ball in from a free kick was delightful and made for an easy finish. So all square at the interval was probably about fair from my point of view.
Attacking the Portland Drive end for the second period,Queens regained the lead thanks to a Steve Tosh penalty, awarded for a block on Harris as he looked for a return pass, maybe one of those decisions that you are happy if it goes for you,but you'd be upset if it goes against you.
From then on Queens were in the driving seat and had chances to put the game beyond doubt. Dobbie had probably the best chance when through one on one with the keeper, but not for the first time against Queens in recent games,Tuffey pulled off a fine save. As the game wore on sure as night follows day, Queens reverted to their usual tactic of dropping back and allowing Partick to have more of the play, and eventually the equaliser arrived just as the majority of the crowd were expecting. Queens did another another great chance to win the game in the last few seconds when a diving header from the impressive Scally seemed to be on the way in,only for Tuffey to produce another good save to keep it out.
Overall this was a much better showing from Queens with home debutant Barry Wilson having a good game. As mentioned Scally played well after such a long lay off, Tosh had by far his best game at Palmerston for some time, and the sponsors choice of Craig Barr as mom was probably correct - although this was probably because Neil MacFarlane didn't play !!!
